Description
The rescue VM is currently Debian oldstable (buster). Its kernel can't support some of the things needed for poking around in newer Linux distributions such as the sparse inode format of new XFS filesystems. An upgrade is well overdue.

This is now done. bullseye system with a bullseye-backports (5.15.x) kernel.
